Things You Should Know About Christian Encounter Ministries

Christian Encounter Ministries is a nondenominational, nonprofit organization founded in 1970, with membership in the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

Tending Lives...

CEM is succinctly described in the phrase which accompanies our logo, "Tending lives... Training leaders." At the beautiful Christian Encounter Ranch, we have a residential counseling/discipleship ministry for troubled young people (male and female) ages 16-25. These young people come voluntarily. They have backgrounds which include all kinds of abuse, drugs, family problems, etc. Residents stay at the ranch three months to two years and receive professional Christian counseling, discipleship, schooling if necessary, fellowship, love, and plenty of one-on-one attention. They adhere to a disciplined schedule and are expected to work hard.

He has been serving as Executive Director since 1994.

Location

Strategically located in the "Gold Country" of the foothills in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, CEM provides an ideal setting for intellectual, spiritual, and personal growth. The 82-acre ranch property is located just 45 minutes from Sacramento and 1.5 hours from magnificent Lake Tahoe. Skiing is a popular pastime. Temperatures are normally comfortable year round, as the ranch is located just below the snowline.

Statement of Faith

We believe...

In God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the Christ; He paid the penalty for our sins; He rose from the dead and is coming again.

The Holy Spirit regenerates and transforms the Christian, who then demonstrates maturity by loving and serving God and others.

The Bible is the only authoritative and inspired word of God, the infallible rule of faith and conduct for all Christians.

God wants all Christians to cooperate with one another, in love, in order to accomplish His work on earth.

Funding

CEM receives no government funding. All funds are generated from CEM programs and from donations by churches and individuals. CEM hosts the annual 24-hour Agony Bicycle Ride fundraiser. We are members of ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). If you would like to give a tax-deductible donation, you may send it to:
